Nyland is our in-house clothing label, named in honor of my late brother, Nyland Magnus Espedal. Nyland lived with cerebral palsy. He couldn’t walk or talk, but he changed every person who knew him. He was 7 when he died. I was 11.
Five years ago, I launched this label in his name. What started as a small house line has grown into one of Adorn’s most loved offerings, designed and curated by our Head Buyer and Director of Stores, Nina Bennett, and built piece by piece around the women in our stores.
To mark Nyland’s fifth anniversary, we’re launching a long-term giveback partnership with Dougy Center: The National Grief Center for Children & Families.
Beginning June 2026, 3% of every Nyland purchase will be donated to Dougy Center — supporting peer support groups and grief resources at no cost for children, teens, young adults, and families across the country.
My mother, Lori Espedal, is partnering with Adorn to grow this charitable mission over time, with a vision to support additional nonprofits serving children with disabilities — carrying forward the way Nyland lived.
Founded in Portland, Dougy Center is the national leader in grief support for children and families. Their world-renowned peer-support model has been replicated more than 500 times in organizations nationally and internationally. Learn more at dougy.org.
